- This 2000 Type R has JUN type 3 Cams, intake, headers and
muffler. An OBD I P28 ECU with a Hondata stage 3 install replaced the
stock computer. The fuelling and ignition were then set up on the dyno
as AEBS San Diego.
- 12 Peak HP was gained at 8500 RPM and 5 ft-Lb Torque at 6700 rpm.
The VTEC point was raised and the torque dip fixed by altering
fuelling and ignition settings.
- Interestingly, Hondalogger showed 100 % injector duty cycle @ 8300
rpm. That is, the injectors were not capable of delivering any extra
fuel above that RPM. Using a fuel pressure regulator to increase
static fuelling about 10 lb, and adjusting the
computer calibration for it, the low end fuelling was completely
unaffected.
- A video of the dyno run is
available on the media page (Quicktime
5 recommended) and for the technically minded a map
trace of the engine computer during the run.
