Capacitor C14 replacment
All socketing kits now come with a new capacitor to replace the main capacitor
found at position C14 on all OBD1 ECUs. All Hondata socketed ECUs will
also have this capacitor replaced. This is a preventative maintenance
procedure.
This component has a expected life of 2000-5000 hours. Since all these
ECUs are nearing 15 years old, it is a good idea to replace this capacitor.
If it fails it usually leaks acid on the board both burning it and destroying
tracks (this usually is accompanied by the smell of fish inside the ecu).
Make sure that it is placed in the ecu with the stripe facing away from the ecu
connectors, just as the original capacitor was positioned.
